The High Court on Thursday directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to provide police protection for the release and screening of Ramcharan Teja's new bilingual movie Thoofan in Telugu and Zanjeer in Hindi.
As the release of the film is slated for Friday. The Reliance Big Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, the producers of the movie on Wednesday had moved the High Court seeking protection for the release of the movie in the wake of threat made by the Seemandhra agitators to prevent screening of the movie if Union Textiles Minister K Chiranjeevi does not resign in support of Samaikyandhra.
The Union Minister's son Ramcharan is the hero of the the film with Priyanka Chopra as the heroine. A remake of the erstwhile movie with the same name Zanjeer with Amitabh Bachan in the lead role, Ramcharan is making foray into Bollywood with the movie with the same title. The Telugu version is titled as Thoofan.
Earlier, there were rumors that the producers first decided to postpone the movie release date. But gave a try in the High Court. In the petition, they mentioned that some miscreants had threatened to disrupt the screening of the film.
